Going home

Published by pam on Thu, 03/22/2012 - 9:09am

Hope not to be back for a while.  I enjoy the nurses and the doctors, but the rest ( or lack there of) I can do without.  Looking forward to my own home and family and dogs.

Now I just have to recover for the big push.  Chemo will be long and challenging, but hopefully it wii help me turn the page on this chapter of my life.

Pam, I just heard the news from Roger and am at a total loss for words or anything else for that matter.  You and your family are on my mind and in my heart.  Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings during this portion of your life journey.  Your wisdom is truly amazing and insightful for everyone who has the good fortune to share this blog.   You have placed so much in perspective for me and I am truly grateful.
With much love,
Joannie & Emilie too

For the kind thoughts.  It is really nice knowing how many people out there are pulling form me.  One of the upsides of this has been hearing from so many people we've lost touch with.  I hope you are having a wonderful adventure in North Carolina.  I hear it's beautiful. Take care.

Hi Pam and Marc,
I just caught up on the blog and had no idea about the kidney.  And, yes, you can live on one kidney, I know lots of people who have done it (for varied reasons).  I know that distance separates us, and our cancer experiences have been and will be very different, but, if you ever need to talk, just give me a call.  I'm always happy to listen.  And one thing I learned (from free counseling I went through thanks to American Cancer Society) - cancer does not have to define you, nor does it have to define your relationships.  You will find lots of other things to discuss with your friends and family - the girls, the kitchen renovation, etc.  But, when you do need to discuss the cancer and have it define you during a point in time - let it.  Focus, when you can, on what you need, and go with the flow.

That is all excellent advice!!!
